North Lakhimpur, Assam : The Gorkha Docco Music Festival is a biennial celebration of the rich and vibrant tribal culture, heritage, and traditions of the Gorkhali tribes. Organized by the All Assam Gorkha Tribal Students' Union (AAGTSU), the festival serves as a platform to highlight the longstanding demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) recognition for deserving groups of the greater Gorkha community in Assam. This edition of the festival on Saturday the 30th November 2024 features Trishna Gurung and the Collab band at the Joyhing Bazar Playground, North Lakhimpur, Assam. 

The Gorkha Docco Music Festival not only celebrates the cultural vibrancy of the Gorkha tribal community but also serves as a powerful medium to generate awareness about the tribal characteristics of the Gorkhas. Also foster a sense of unity and pride among the Gorkha population blended with modern music.

Speaking to this correspondent Founder President of AAGTSU and the Gorkha Docco Music Festival (GDMF) Gopal Tamang Moktan said, 'The festival embodies AAGTSU’s commitment to preserve and promote Gorkha tribal culture, educate the masses, and strengthen unity among various tribal groups. It also advocates for the inclusion of deserving Gorkha groups in the Scheduled Tribe category.'

The AAGTSU's decade year  edition music festival promises to be the most memorable one featuring *Trishna Gurung and the Collab band* internationally acclaimed singing band from Kathmandu known for their soulful and electrifying performances. Her foot tapping numbers like 'Naam K Ho Bhanana', 'Solti Jyu' , 'Maya Pirati' and heart touching song 'Gainey Dajai' are very popular among the masses and have amassed large number of views on social media reels world wide. Confirming her performance at the festival Trishna Gurung has opened an invitation for reels competition in her most popular reels song 'Nam K Ho Bhanana' for the music loving people of Assam and the North East. She will give away her autographed goodies  to the participants selected to perform in this particular number on  stage on 30th November.

 

*Bimal Gurung, founder and president of the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha (GJJM) who revived and spearheaded the Gorkhaland statehood movement that led to the formation of present day Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) will inaugurate the festival as the Chief Guest.*  India's one of the tallest Gorkha leaders confirmed his participation with a video message after the organisers met him personally in Darjeeling recently.

The major attractions in earlier editions of the festival were international rap singer and performer Vten ( Sameer Ghising), popular rapper and entertainer Laure ( Ashish Rana Magar), soulful singer Ekdev Limboo and internationally acclaimed Himalayan Tribal Folk and Tibetan Nepali Hindi singer from New York Raju Lama and The Mongolian Heart band in the last edition.

Bishal Ghising one of the Event Directors of the GDMF, welcomed all Gorkhas of Assam to the Gorkha Docco Music Festival and celebrates modern day Gorkhali music with traditional taste at Joyhing Bazar next weekend. He also informed that preparation for the festival is in full swing. Chairman of the Gorkha Development Council ( GDC), Government of Assam Prem Tamang, MLA of Lakhimpur constituency Manab Deka, Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA)'s Gorkha Gaurav  awardee Prakash Rai and international award winning senior community journalist Nanda Kirati Dewan, leaders of the Gorkha civil society organisations (CSO)s are among other invitees will grace the festival as special guest of honour.

Gorkha tribal dance forms like Limboo (Yakthung) folk dance K- Lang ( Chyabrung), Rai (Khambu) traditional dance Sakela Silli and Tamang cultural dance Tamang Selo along with Gorkha singing bands and performers from across Assam selected through special screening will perform before Trisha Gurung and the Collab band takes to stage', informed Sagar Dewan, general secretary of Joyhing Regional committee AAGTSU adding that the Reception Committee is fully prepared to host the guests and the artists in a traditional way musically.

गोर्खा डोको सङ्गीत महोत्सवले गोर्खा जनजाति समुदायको सांस्कृतिक जीवन्तता मात्र नभई गोर्खाहरूको जनजाति विशेषताहरूबारे चेतना जगाउने सशक्त माध्यमको रूपमा पनि काम गर्छ। आधुनिक संगीत संग मिसिएको गोर्खा जनसमुदायमा एकता र गर्वको भावनालाई पनि बढाउनु उद्देश्य हो।

यस संवाददातासँग कुरा गर्दै गोर्खा डोको म्युजिक फेस्टिभलका संस्थापक अध्यक्ष तथा गोपाल तामाङ मोक्तानले भने, ‘यो महोत्सवले गोर्खा जनजाति संस्कृतिको संरक्षण र प्रवर्द्धन गर्ने, जनसमुदायलाई शिक्षित गर्ने र विभिन्न जनजाति समुदायबीचको एकतालाई मजबुत बनाउने प्रतिबद्धतालाई समेटेको छ । यसले योग्य गोर्खा समूहहरूलाई अनुसूचित जनजाति वर्गमा समावेश गर्न पनि वकालत गर्छ।'

आजको गोर्खाल्याण्ड टेरिटोरियल एडमिनिस्ट्रेशन (जीटीए) को गठनमा नेतृत्व गर्ने गोर्खाल्याण्ड राज्य आन्दोलनको पुनरुत्थान र नेतृत्व गरने गोर्खा जन मुक्ति मोर्चा (GJJM) का संस्थापक तथा राष्ट्रिय अध्यक्ष विमल गुरुङले महोत्सवको उद्घाटन गर्नेछन्।  भारतका सबैभन्दा लोकप्रिय गोर्खा नेता गुरुङ्गले भर्खरै आयोजकहरूले दार्जिलिङमा व्यक्तिगत रूपमा उहाँलाई भेटेपछि भिडियो सन्देशमार्फत आफ्नो सहभागिता पुष्टि गरे।

मोहत्सवका एक कार्यक्रम निर्देशक विशाल घिसिङले आसामका सबै गोर्खाहरूलाई गोर्खा डोको संगीत महोत्सवमा स्वागत गरे र अर्को सप्ताहन्तमा जोहिङ बजारमा परम्परागत स्वादका साथ आधुनिक  गोर्खाली संगीत मनाउँछन्। उनले महोत्सवको तयारी तिब्र रुपमा भईरहेको समेत जानकारी दिए । गोर्खा विकास परिषद् (जीडीसी), असम सरकारका अध्यक्ष प्रेम तामाङ, लखिमपुर निर्वाचन क्षेत्रका विधायक मानब डेका, गोर्खाल्याण्ड टेरिटोरियल एडमिनिस्ट्रेशन (जीटीए) का गोर्खा गौरव सम्मान विजेता प्रकाश राई र अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय पुरस्कार विजेता वरिष्ठ सामुदायिक पत्रकार नन्द किराती देवान महोत्सवमा गोर्खा नागरिक समाजका संघसंस्थाका नेताहरु लगायत अन्य आमन्त्रितहरू विशेष अतिथिको रूपमा उपस्थित हुनेछन्।

लिम्बू (याक्थुङ) लोकनृत्य के–लाङ (च्याब्रुङ), राई (खम्बु) परम्परागत नृत्य साकेला सिल्ली र तामाङ सांस्कृतिक नृत्य तामाङ सेलो जस्ता गोरखा जनजाति नृत्य विधाका साथै विशेष स्क्रिनिङबाट छानिएका असमभरका गोर्खा गायन ब्याण्ड तथा कलाकारहरुले तृष्णा गुरुङ्ग  अगाडि प्रस्तुति दिनेछन् । जोहिङ क्षेत्रीय समितिका मूलसचिव सागर देवानले जानकारी दिए अनुसार  पाहुना तथा कलाकारहरुलाई परम्परागत र सांगीतिक रुपमा आयोजना गर्न स्वागत समिति पूर्णरुपमा तयार रहेको जनाएको छ ।

Sarupathar Golaghat : The Golden Jubilee of Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha (ANSS) - the only apex literary organisation of Gorkhas of North East India will be held at Sarupathar in Golaghat from 5th -8th December 2024. The ANSS completed 50 years of glorious existence and continuous community and literary service towards the Gorkhas of Assam and the nation on 4th January 2024.  On Wednesday main pillar establishing  in  native ceremony language 'Lai Khoota Isthapan' was held at the Sarupathar General Field in presence of organisational heads of Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha (ANSS), All Assam Gorkha Students' Union ( AAGSU), Assam Gorkha Sammelan (AGS), Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh (BGP) and the Gorkha Autonomous Council Demand Committee (GACDC) and Gorkha social, political and literary leaders. Co-District Commissioner Ankur Das and officers of Co- District Administration along with leaders of Golaghat and Dhansiri committee of various community social and literary organisations along with chairman of Sarupathar and Barpathar Municipal Board were present. 

MLA of the host constituency Biswajit Phukan, Gorkha MLAs of Margherita and Barsola constituency Shri Bhaskar Sharma and Ganesh Kumar Limboo along with Gorkha Development Council (GDC), Government of Assam chairman Prem Tamang were present as guest of honour at the pandal erection site which has been unanimously named Shivaji Rai Samanbay Xetra after educator social worker founder of BMS Group of Educational Institutions and founding member of All India Gorkha League in the region Late Shivaji Rai of Sarupathar. Member of Parliament of Kaziranga Lok Sabha Constituency Kamakhya Prasad Tasa graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and laid the main pillar of the function with other guests. In their addresses MP Tasa and MLA Phukan committed to lend all sorts of support  to the Reception Committee being the host people's representatives in Delhi and Dispur.

Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha (ANSS) Durga Khatiwoda in his welcome speech appreciated the work of the various departments of the Reception Committee working in co-operation continuously over the last 6 months. He announced that the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has kindly consented to be present in the Open Session as the Chief Guest along with the Chief Minister of Sikkim as the Special Guest of Honour. At that time he sought support from various communities of social and literary organisations for the success of the golden Jubilee conference. ANSS vice president Tilak Sarma (Bokakhat), GACDC vice president Dil Bahadur Limboo (Uriamghat) and AGS general secretary Raju Shrestha ( Barpathar) respectively were elected President, Working President and Secretary General of the ANSS Golden Jubilee Celebrations Reception Committee in July 2023. Khatiwada along with Reception Committee office bearers  performed the rituals followed by lighting of earthen lamp along with floral tribute to the martyrs and Gorkha ancestors.

Considering the significance of the glorious history with achievements and celebration of the literary organisation's Golden Jubilee Gorkhas from three other Co- Districts assembled at the conference venue on Wednesday. All the distinguished guests unanimously expressed desire to contribute in the Golden Jubilee in a grand and gorgeous way and extended unconditional support so that the  conference reflects Gorkhas enviable cultural heritage and rich literary wealth of the community.

Dr. Chintamoni Sharma, Working President ANSS in his speech outlined that the  conference will spread for 4 days divided into inaugural session, interactive session, state, national and international literary sessions, communiity symposium, cultural and literary exchanges, Gorkha multiethnic exhibitions followed by the 50th Annual General Meeting and 16th Trinnenial Delegate Session that will elect the new committee for 2024-2027 session and an open session with valedictory ceremony on 8th December. He also spoke about the  mission and vision of the organisation and its achievements.

 सरुपथार गोलाघाट : उत्तर पूर्वी भारतका गोर्खाहरूको एकमात्र शीर्ष साहित्यिक संस्था असम नेपाली साहित्य सभा ( अनेसास) को स्वर्ण जयन्ती २०२४ डिसेम्बर ५ देखि ८ सम्म गोलाघाट जिल्लाको सरुपाथरमा आयोजना हुँदैछ। अनेसासले असमका गोर्खाहरू र राष्ट्रप्रति सामुदायिक र साहित्यिक सेवाको गौरवपूर्ण अस्तित्व र निरन्तरताको ४ जनवरी २०२४ मा ५० वर्ष पूरा गरेको छ।   । बुधवार मूल स्तम्भ स्थापना स्थानिय भाषामा 'लाइ खुटा स्थापन' असम नेपाली साहित्य सभा (अनेसास),  अखिल आसाम गोर्खा छात्र संघ (AAGSU), आसाम गोरखा सम्मेलन (AGS), भारतीय गोरखा परिसंघ (BGP) र गोर्खा स्वायत्त परिषद् माग समिति (GACDC) का  प्रमुखहरूको उपस्थितिमा सरुपाथर सामूहिक खेल मैदानमा सम्पन्न भयो। 

गोर्खा  सामाजिक, राजनीतिक र साहित्यिक नेतृत्व पनि उपसाथित थिए। कार्यक्रममा सहजिल्ला आयुक्त अंकुर दास तथा सहजिल्ला प्रशासनका अधिकारीहरु सहित विभिन्न सामुदायिक सामाजिक तथा साहित्यिक संघसंस्थाका गोलाघाट र धनसिरी समितिका अगुवाहरु, सरुपाथर र बडपाथर नगरपालिकाका अध्यक्षहरुको उपस्थिति रहेको थियो । 

 पण्डल निर्माण स्थलमा आयोजक क्षेत्रका विधायक विश्वजित फुकन, मार्गेरिटा र बारसोला निर्वाचन क्षेत्रका गोर्खा विधायक श्री भास्कर शर्मा र गणेश कुमार लिम्बूसहित गोर्खा उन्नयनपरिषद् (GDC), असम सरकारका अध्यक्ष प्रेम तामाङको उपस्थिति थियो ।  शिक्षाविद् सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता बीएमएस ग्रुप अफ एजुकेशनल इन्स्टिच्युसनका संस्थापक र अखिल भारतीय गोर्खा लिगका संस्थापक सदस्य सरुपाथर क्षेत्रका स्वर्गीय शिवाजी राईको नाममा सर्वसम्मतिले शिवाजी राई समन्बे क्षेत्रको नाम तोकिएको छ।  काजिरंगा लोकसभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्रका सांसद कामाख्या प्रसाद तासाले प्रमुख अतिथिको रूपमा सो अवसरमा उपस्थित हुनुहुन्थ्यो र अन्य अतिथिहरूसँग समारोहको मूल खाँबो राखे।  आफ्नो सम्बोधनमा सांसद टासा र विधायक फुकनले दिल्ली र दिसपुरमा आयोजक क्षेत्र जनप्रतिनिधि भएकाले स्वागतकारिनी समितिलाई सबै प्रकारको सहयोग गर्ने प्रतिबद्धता व्यक्त गरे।

असमेली गोर्खाको निर्वाचित जनप्रतीनिधि को दायित्व पालन गरदै विधायक भास्कर शर्मा र गणेश लिम्बू ले कार्यक्रम लाई हर प्रकारको सहयोग गरेर गौरवमय इतिहासको अंग हुने इच्छा प्रकट गरे। अभिभावकको दायित्व पालन गरी सुझाव, सहयोग, सहकार्य गरेर अनेसास स्वर्ण जयन्ती एतिहासिक रूपमा सफल पार्नु हेतु आफ्नु योग दान दिँदै  युवा तथा छात्र हरूलाई पनि यो महाअधिवेशन लाई सफल आफ्नु भूमिका पालन गर्नु आह्वान गरे र आफु पनि अभिभावकको दायित्व पालन गरने वचन दिए। 

अनेसास अधक्ष्य दुर्गा खतिवडाले स्वागत मन्तव्यमा स्वागतकारिनी समितिका विभिन्न विभागले विगत ६ महिनादेखि निरन्तर रुपमा सहकार्य गर्दै आएको कामको प्रशंसा गर्नुभयो ।  उनले डिसेम्बर ८ तारिक खुला सत्रमा असमका माननीय मुख्यमन्त्री डा हिमन्त विश्व शर्माले मुख्य अतिथिका रूपमा र सिक्किमका मुख्यमन्त्री  विशेष सम्मानिय अतिथिका रूपमा उपस्थित हुन कृपापूर्वक सहमति जनाएका जानकारी साझा गरे।  सो अवसरमा उनले स्वर्ण जयन्ती सम्मेलन सफल बनाउन विभिन्न समुदायका सामाजिक तथा साहित्यिक संघसंस्थासँग सहयोग मागे।  जुलाई २०२३ मा अनेसास स्वर्ण जयन्ती समारोह स्वागत कारिनी समितिमा अनेसास उपाध्यक्ष तिलक शर्मा (बोकाखत), GACDC उपाध्यक्ष दिलबहादुर लिम्बू (उरियामघाट) र आगोस मूलसचिव राजु श्रेष्ठ (बरपाथर) क्रमशः अध्यक्ष, कार्याध्यक्ष र महासचिवमा निर्वाचित भएका थिए।  स्वागत समितिका पदाधिकारीहरुले शहीद तथा गोरखा पुर्खाप्रति पुष्पहार अर्पण गरी माटोको दीप प्रज्वलन गरी माङ्गलिक अनुष्ठान गरेका थिए ।

अनेसासको उपलब्धिसहितको गौरवशाली इतिहासको महत्वलाई मध्यनजर गर्दै साहित्यिक संस्थाको स्वर्ण जयन्ती समारोहको निम्ति अन्य तीन समजिल्लाबाट बुधबारको कार्यक्रम स्थलमा भेला भएका हुन् ।  सबै विशिष्ट अतिथिहरूले सर्वसम्मतिले स्वर्ण जयन्तीमा भव्य रूपमा योगदान गर्ने इच्छा व्यक्त गरे र यस कार्यक्रमले गोर्खाहरूको  सांस्कृतिक सम्पदा र समुदायको समृद्ध साहित्यिक सम्पदा झल्काउने गरी नि:शर्त सहयोग गर्ने इच्छा व्यक्त गरे।

 अनेसासका कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष डा चिन्तामनी शर्माले आफ्नो मन्तव्यमा समारोहमा उद्घाटन सत्र, अन्तरक्रियात्मक सत्र, राज्य, राष्ट्रिय तथा अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय साहित्यिक सत्र, सामुदायिक गोष्ठी, सांस्कृतिक तथा साहित्यिक आदानप्रदान, गोर्खा बहुजातीय प्रदर्शनीमा विभाजन गरी ४ दिनसम्म फैलिने बताए ।  50 औं वार्षिक साधारण सभा र 16 औं त्रिवार्षिक प्रतिनिधि सत्र जसले 2024-2027 सत्रको लागि नयाँ समिति चयन गर्नेछ र 8 डिसेम्बरमा समापन समारोहको साथ खुला सत्र हुने छ। उनले संस्थाको मिशन र भिजन र यसका उपलब्धिहरूको बारेमा पनि कुरा गरे।
